Sliding wardrobes, like any other furniture, have size limitations. Partly, these restrictions are associated with the size of housing, but mainly with the design features of furniture. The maximum size of the doors of a wardrobe is not limited to anything other than the area of the room. For the minimum dimensions, there are certain limitations.
Width of the wardrobe door
The design of this type of furniture is very different from the classic swing models. Dimensions and their ratio provide reliability and convenience of design. Ready-made wardrobes are sold in sizes that already meet the necessary parameters. If you make a wardrobe with your own hands, you need to know the rules for calculating its dimensions.

What should be the parameters of the wardrobe
The optimal width of the elements for this model is considered to be a size from 70 to 90 centimeters. You can deviate from this value in any direction. An increase in the width of the wings can only lead to deformation, and the problem can be solved using durable materials and reliable structures. Reducing the width of the wings to less than 50 centimeters leads to more serious problems. A narrow door becomes unstable and often falls out of the guide along which it moves when opened. As a result, the design crashes faster, and using it is not so convenient.
How to determine the correct sash size
The minimum width of the wardrobe will determine at what size the two parts of the facade will work for a long time and efficiently, ensuring ease of use of furniture. The quality of the entire system depends on the size of the sliding door. Moreover, not only its width as such is important, but also its ratio to the height of the part. So, if the design is designed for the ceiling itself, and its height is more than two meters, 40 centimeters of the door width will not provide ease of use. Such a construction will constantly “wedge”, it will move along the guide reluctantly due to the large weight and small area of contact with the support.

In order for the sliding wardrobe to conveniently open and close, and its mechanism should not be subject to premature breakdowns due to structural defects, the ratio of the width of the doors to their height should be no less than 1 to 4. For example, if the furniture has a height of 170 centimeters, the door size must be at least 40 centimeters, more precisely 42.5 cm.
However, if the structure is very high, then the sash at a quarter of its height may be too large. Because of this, the doors are deformed prematurely, and it is inconvenient to open and close the cabinet due to the weight of the doors. In this case, various options are possible - the choice of a material that is lighter and more resistant to deformation for doors or, if possible, a decrease in the height of the cabinet.
