How to escape from the heat of a house without air conditioning

Summer is the most fertile time for most people living in our latitudes. Indeed, it was at this time that we were accustomed to go on vacation in order to soak our hearts under the rays of the gentle sun, wallowing on the well-warmed golden sand of a beautifully arranged beach, swinging on the sea waves. However, there is a downside, which is much less pleasant. In areas with a continental climate, summer days are sometimes unbearable heat, which (unlike the southern sea resorts) does not brighten up the proximity of the sea.

Not everyone has the opportunity to go to the sea all summer. And at home or in the country you have to escape from overheating.

Why overheating is dangerous

First you need to figure out at what temperatures the very unpleasant state that we call overheating can occur. This indicator is inconsistent and depends on several factors. The main one is the local climate. In the resorts of Sochi, for example, I practically do not limit myself in clothes and do not try to lighten my suit as much as possible (with the exception of the beach, of course) in order to look attractive.

Reference! At sea resorts, 35 ° on a scale of the beloved Celsius is perceived much more comfortable than 26 ° in the middle latitudes. Perhaps this is one of the important reasons for the eternal desire of citizens to spend vacations near the water?

Even at a temperature of about 40 ° I do not feel much discomfort, putting on a fashionable dress or a blouse with a skirt, and in addition a scarf around my neck and other accessories. Sacrificing is not my style. But in the south of Western Siberia already at 30 °, life is becoming simply unbearable.

The summer heat (in its latitudes) I, like many others, endure very hard. Therefore, she studied this problem well and learned how to deal with overheating - both at home and on the street. By the way, there is no air conditioning in our house. Not yet.

Experts talk a lot about the danger of overheating, and I agree with them. She herself happened to experience "all the hardships and hardships."

One of the unpleasant consequences of overheating is dehydration (dehydration). Unpleasantness creeps up imperceptibly, especially if you spend a lot of time in the garden for a long day and in the heat of passion for weed control forget about breaks for a cup of fragrant green tea brought from a recent trip to China, and even laced with jasmine petals freshly picked in your garden.

Dehydration is not only about weight loss. These are other troubles:

  • poor health and general weakness;
  • loss of vital minerals and trace elements - they simply leave the body with sweat;
  • circulatory disturbance;
  • and even bad blood tests.

There is no need to talk about sunburns - they are extremely unpleasant in themselves. But the worst thing about them is the opportunity to get skin diseases, right down to skin cancer.

Another danger is heat stroke. I tested it on myself, and therefore I speak competently. You can earn it not only on the street (unlike the sun), but also without leaving your home. Believe me, this is a very unpleasant condition. When thermal shock appears:

  • no one knows where the heap of lethargy and weakness came from;
  • dyspnea;
  • redness of the skin, painful, but not at all the one that every girl dreams of, a blush;
  • nausea, smoothly and inevitably turning into vomiting.

And finally, the crown of heat stroke. The “lucky man" is very dizzy, darkens in his eyes. And in especially severe cases, visual and auditory hallucinations, muscle cramps and fainting occur.

Most often, heat stroke occurs in children and the elderly. In the former, the body has not yet matured, and in the latter, it has already weakened. But such problems are quite possible for people in the prime of their emotional and vitality.

How to escape from the heat if there is no air conditioning

Best of all, air conditioning saves from heat and its unpleasant consequences. The consumer can configure it so as to provide the most comfortable microclimate in the house. But air conditioning is quite expensive equipment, not available to every family. In addition, you have to install an outdoor unit, drill a wall, and it will not be allowed to do this in any city high-rise building. And in the country, it’s generally not economically feasible to install climate equipment. We have to escape from the heat without air conditioning, especially since it is quite possible. Here are some ways:

  1. Do not let hot sunlight penetrate the apartment. Stick a reflective film on the windows using ordinary tape. But only not on glass (hard traces will remain on it), but on frames.
  2. Take care of air circulation. Open the windows on opposite sides of the apartment - let a draft walk.
  3. Fill one and a half liter plastic bottles with water and freeze in the refrigerator. A fan set in a corner and aimed at the resulting ice is a great alternative to air conditioning.
  4. Drink more water so that there is no dehydration. Coffee and alcohol are not allowed. Energy drinks and sugary soda are undesirable. Plain water, unsweetened green tea (just not hot), a mineral water (in no case from the refrigerator are welcomed - contrary to popular belief) are welcome.
  5. Prepare light food - salads, steamed vegetables, fish, steamed chicken breast, meat broth. It is tasty and healthy.
  6. Often take a shower or swim in the pool (if you are in the country).
  7. Replace all incandescent bulbs with LED ones - they emit little heat.
  8. Do not get carried away with home cooking: cooking is always accompanied by an increase in temperature in the room.

Separately, I will say about choosing the "right" clothes. Everywhere they recommend things made from exclusively natural materials, mainly cotton, and actually prohibit synthetics. I strongly disagree with this. Cotton clothing, of course, “breathes” and absorbs moisture well. But after it absorbs, it “stops breathing”, and all the advantages of natural materials disappear. The same T-shirt starts to stick unpleasantly to the body, it is even difficult to take it off. You have to have at hand several things to replace.

Conventional synthetics are even worse. But I found for myself and from the bottom of my heart I recommend to everyone things designed for playing sports. They are made of synthetics using special technologies. They do not absorb moisture, but they remove it from the body, evaporate into the atmosphere and dry very quickly - right on the body.

Reference! Of course, branded NIKE with Dri-Fit technology is much more expensive, but in the end, even in the heat of the day you remain dry and comfortable, even with excessive sweating.

And the last one. If problems nevertheless arise, be sure to consult a doctor, or better, call an ambulance.
